Signs From Loved Ones

After the daily chores I decided to sit down at the kitchen table and do some writing. From the corner of my eye I could see our beautiful white Siamese cat walking into the kitchen towards her usual place near the Agar. In that moment it didn’t occur to me that she had died two weeks prior! It was almost like time stopped within those few seconds of me seeing her and her vanishing into thin air near the agar. That occurrence has been the only time a pet has visited me from beyond the grave. I have had other visitations from our pets in dreams over the years and of course loved ones.

I also remember on the day our Labrador died I was living an hour away at the time. All throughout the day there was this dreadful energy engulfing me I couldn’t get rid of , it was the energy you feel when someone is about to die . I then had a phone call from my mum and before she could even say anything I said that Purdy had died, which she confirmed. I immediately went to my mums, prior to this I had a vision of Purdy being wrapped up in a particular blanket, and when I got there my vision was clarified.

After we had buried her in the garden and had held a service for her (as we do with all our pets when they die) me and my mum went inside to sit down and have a cup of tea (as all English people do during a traumatic time!) We were talking and suddenly clear as a bell, I heard Purdy bark in my ear gently. I asked my mother if she could hear and she said she couldn’t.

During writing this article I asked the general public what experiences they have had in regards to messages from their loved ones. Allot of people kindly shared their stories with me.

“I lost my dog almost a year ago. She was my best friend. I couldn’t cope with the emptiness without her, and stopped eating. We decided to adopt another rescue dog to fill the void, and when we had decided on a dog, I felt her come to me, put her head on my knee, and tell me that she approved, and that it would be okay. The thought still makes me cry.”

“I had a very vivid dream, which I recall everything from. It was of my Nan (my mums mum) and was a little while after she passed.

In the dream, it was a nice sunny day, and it was just me and she in what was her front room. I was half sitting/half laying on her sofa, and she was in ‘her’ armchair next to me, as we were sorting things out at her place. In the dream, she asked me what was wrong, as she said I looked a little sad, and I’ve said that I don’t want her to go anywhere; I want her to stay here with me. She said she wasn’t going anywhere, but ended up going to hospital and eventually came home. At that point, she said that she doesn’t want my mum to sort the funeral, she wants my uncle to sort it out, as it was a shambles and that she wasn’t happy with it (unfortunately, her funeral was a little bit of a shambles), but in the dream I already knew that the funeral had happened as she had already passed, well she ended up going into hospital again and not coming home.

I feel that she was trying to tell me that she wished the uncle (her son) had sorted the funeral out and wasn’t happy with the arrangements my mum had done “

“My dad passed nearly 8 years ago. A few months ago I was going through a very hard stressful time and my dad used to be the only one I could open up to and feel safe. I was so depressed and just worn thin.”

“One night I had a dream of him just standing in front of me and told me everything would be OK while using his unique nick name for me and giving me a great big hug. I woke up immediately and was overwhelmed with love and comfort, as though I Could still feel him. I just said “thank you daddy” wiped my eyes and got up for work.”

“Shortly after my Grandpa passed, I could smell his tobacco in my apartment. My neighbours did not smoke & it came out of nowhere. I truly think that was him saying goodbye “

“After my great Nan passed away I had dreams about her all the time. The last dream I had about her, we was in a room with a spiral staircase in the corner. She got up from where she was sitting, walked half way up the stairs, looked at me and said “it’s going to be ok”. Haven’t dreamt of her since (that I can recall). I think it was her saying that she is at peace now, and that I can let her go.”

“Saw my grandmother-in-law 6 months after she passed away. She said to let her know if I ever needed her. I forgot that she passed away until I woke-up. “

“I find dimes daily everywhere. In pockets, shoes, my daughter’s diaper bags, they fall off the table on my feet. It’s crazy. Said to be messages from beyond”

“I heard my dad call my name once, this was three years after he died.”

Some of the most common signs from loved ones are Robins, Bluebirds, feathers , smells , your name being called , songs that have a special meaning , general feeling of your loved one being around you .

I have experienced all of the above; the feathers appeared in our house for no apparent reason after my grandfather and step father died. The Robins are the most common thing I see; ever since my grandmother died I’ve been seeing them almost constantly. There was a time two years ago where every day at work this robin would fly past the window and stare at me for a few minutes. I believe this was my grandmother telling me that something was going to happen (which it did) but it would be ok. And at times her favourite type of Butterfly (the Admiral Butterfly)

It’s fascinating to come across so many experiences and it also reminds us that we do go on after this life as do our pets! Even though we may not see them they are always there watching over us.
