So You Think You Can’t Speak to the Dead?

The vast majority of people that I speak to about mediumship will comment that they have never encountered or interacted with someone who has died, or, as we say in the business of mediumship, passed over to spirit. To me, this is a totally understandable comment to make since the common perception of mediumship is usually ‘weird people who see and talk to ghosts’! I know this to be true as before I became involved with, and began to understand the process, I too thought the very same way.

But, here’s the thing. The stark reality is that every single one of us, believers or not, has at some time in this life been in direct contact with someone from the world of spirit. In fact, the majority of us will have been talking to ghosts only last night, in what we will have perceived to be simply sleeping or dreaming. And, more than that, many of you reading this article right here and now, will be actively communicating with spirit people through the medium of thought process. Hopefully, your spirit friends will be nodding in agreement to what you are reading!

You see, the art of communicating with spirits is achievable by linking our subconscious mind directly to the subconscious mind of a spirit person (unlike us, spirit people no longer possess a conscious mind as their brains are sadly buried in the dust!). The reason why most of us find this extremely difficult is that our brain-fuelled conscious mind is constantly analysing everything around us in a purely logical sense, and our physical senses are naturally controlled by this process. So, in essence, if we can’t see, hear, smell, taste or physically feel touched by something then we naturally presume that it doesn’t exist.

However, in our progressive sleep pattern, where our brain lies dormant and our subconscious takes over – our door to the world of other realms suddenly opens up. In truth, we know so very little of what happens in our sleep, yet this important state of being is often just dismissed as a rest period that’s not worthy of any note.

Let’s think about this in more detail. Have you ever met someone in your dreams that’s no longer in the physical world? Have you ever interacted with them in your dreams? How did you accomplish this when your brain lies dormant and your vision, hearing etc are not operational? The answer is that the subconscious mind is far more powerful than your conscious way of reasoning, and once the conscious mind can be placed to one side, as in sleeping, then virtually anything is possible – even communicating with ghosts, spirits, whatever you wish to call them.

Of course, some lucky people don’t need to fall fast asleep to be able to communicate with spirits. It is possible to place your conscious mind to the side by the means of a simple daydream. We all do it at some point in the day and that’s when many people think they may have seen a ghost out of the corner of their eye. The reality is that their conscious vision has all but shut down and a very slight variation of the dream-state has kicked in for just a second. Spirit mediums predominantly use this process to link with the spirit world. It’s often referred to as a ‘state of trance’ and feels like being in a varying level of hypnosis.

But how do we put ourselves in this ‘state of trance’? Well, one of the key methods that I use is sending an adrenaline rush through my body. Adrenaline is often brought on by either fear or excitement and is effective in bypassing the brain’s link with your physical senses.

Hypnotists and hypnotherapists often use fear and excitement to induce a state of trance in their clients as it’s a really fast-acting method of switching off the conscious mind. If you’ve often wondered why you may feel the presence of ghosts in an old derelict house then it’s because fear has sent adrenaline through your body and actually opened you up to the spirit world. Likewise, anyone investigating this type of house with a purely logical mind frame will not share the same experience since the lack of fear hasn’t affected their consciousness in the same way.

So, if you still think you can’t speak to the dead – then think again. And remember, just because you can’t see someone with your eyes, or hear them with your ears, or smell them with your nose – it doesn’t mean that they don’t exist. They may not be able to reach you in your world – but you can always meet them in theirs – maybe even tonight!

Sleep well!!!!
